The aim of the project is to create and sustain a community space in Kinawley Village. Such a space does not currently exist. This will take the form of a community hall which will include a large recreation space suitable for indoor sports, drama, leisure and related community activities. It will also include some additional space to the main hall for related community based integration initiatives including women and older people’s groups. This initiative will be a truly cross-community project and has the support of all the community locally. Specifically the objectives of the Kinawley Community Hall Association (KCHA) are to;
- Establish, maintain and equip premises and facilities where the people in the area of Kinawley can benefit.
- Provide or secure the provision of social services and recreational facilities and practical assistance for the elderly and disabled people in the area of benefit.
- Promote community development and encourage involvement and participation in activities within the benefit area.
The established timeframe for the project is to begin construction in April 2011 and to have the project completed for Christmas 2012.
The management and execution resources available to KCHA are very strong and local support is unanimous.
The memorandum and articles of association of Kinawley Community Hall Association (KCHA) define the objectives of the Association. These include the enhancement of physical and emotional well being and the promotion of welfare and quality of life for the people of Kinawley and surrounding area, regardless of gender, religion, race, colour, nationality, age or political creed. KCHA aims to support people’s needs locally and welcome their individuality and differences. It aims to provide opportunities for connecting with others and to create volunteering and training opportunities for local people with the vision to build up knowledge skills and experience.
