The project will be of direct benefit to many children and young people in the locality. The local community crèche, which currently accommodates 27 pre-school children is extremely limited in terms of available recreation space and this project, particularly as a result of its chosen location, will provide and ideal space for crèche and play-school indoor activities. The Association have specifically had the needs of this group in mind throughout the design process.
The local scouting group is extremely active but suffers from a lack of suitable space for meetings and club activity. Kinawley primary school currently has an enrolment of 85 pupils. The school built in 1973 has very limited indoor recreation facilities and this hall will provide a much needed facility for sports and drama. As well as health benefits, this hall will provide a forum for social integration between children and young people of all sections of the community.
