The community of Kinawley has no centre in which services can be provided for the benefit of the entire community. This facility is needed to provide a central focus for our community for now and future generations. Over the past 15 - 20 years the people of Kinawley have been discussing the need for a community hall in that would act as a focal point for community life. However, to date it has not come to pass. Currently this basic infrastructure in the form of a community space in the village that can be used by all sections of the community is lacking. The village lacks a focal point. In the recent years Kinawley has benefited from peace and is on a path of reconciliation. Overlooking Benaughlin Mountain, Kinawley is now a popular choice for young families with over 20 new families having moved to the area in the last five years and a large percentage of young people obtaining employment locally. An extensive public survey was carried out early in 2008, which looked at the need for a new community hall in the village an overwhelming majority of people responded positively and with enthusiasm.

The need could not be greater with a large number of young people now growing coming into adolescents in the next ten years without a central place to integrate, socialise, exercise and develop. The Association and the community are determined that this project will succeed.
